According to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry, Suker said that the Croatian government was ready to set up an AFCOS by the end of this year. The purpose of the service will be to assist OLAF and EU member states in effectively combating fraud.
Suker spoke of his ministry's achievements in preventing fraud and corruption in public finance, including the establishment of the integrated account of the Treasury, the system of internal financial control in the public sector and internal audit.
The fact that the European Commission has given Croatia accreditation for the use of pre-accession funds from the ISPA, PHARE and CARDS programmes confirms the quality of the ministry's achievements, Suker stressed.
The meeting was also attended by Croatian Justice Minister Ana Lovrin.
