Racan held talks with Margot Wallstroem, vice-president of the European Commission in charge of institutional relations and communication strategy, Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, the president of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, Martin Schultz, and the president of the European Socialist Party (PSE), Poul Rasmussen, senior SDP official Zoran Milanovic told Hina.
Racan informed his hosts about the process of Croatia's accession to the European Union and requested their support for his country's aspiration to join the bloc as soon as possible, Milanovic said.
The SDP leader also attended a plenary session of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, where he gave a talk on Croatia's progress towards the EU.
In his talks, Racan insisted that the ongoing debate in European institutions on the future of the EU should not affect Croatia's EU membership bid and he won support to that effect, Milanovic said.
Racan travelled to Strasbourg at the invitation of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament.
