Do the job you like to be happy at workplace, survey shows

ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) - The economic crisis does not affect the feeling of satisfaction at the workplace as the most important factor to keep workers content is that they do the job they like, according to the findings of an opinion poll which the Croatian job-search website Moj Posao has conducted among 600 respondents.

As many as 43 percent of those polled said that they felt happy or very happy when they imagined their working day, as against 45 percent in a similar poll in 2005.

However, 37 percent of respondents were neither happy nor unhappy, and one fifth were unhappy with their job.

Other factors for the level of satisfaction at the workplace were relations with colleagues and superiors, and income.

As many as 52 percent of those with monthly salaries exceeding HRK 8,000 expressed their happiness at the workplace. Only one third of those with the income lower than HRK 4,000 felt the same.

Furthermore, as many as 95 percent of those surveyed believed it was important or very important for workplace happiness to do the job you like.

The second most important factor was "colleagues whom you respect and who respect you". As many as 91 percent of those polled found it important that "superiors respect you".

According to the poll, 60 percent of the respondents said they had the job they liked, and 57 percent were satisfied with their colleagues, The satisfaction with superiors was expressed by 40 percent of the respondents.

Only 37 percent of all respondents were content with their income.

Broken down by region, the most satisfied respondents were in Dalmatia, Zagreb, Rijeka and Istria, while the least happy workers were in central Croatia.
