Spanish and Croatian foreign ministers hold talks

ZAGREB/MADRID, June 9 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Friday held talks with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angelo Moratinos during her official visit to Madrid.
ZAGREB/MADRID, June 9 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Friday held talks with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angelo Moratinos during her official visit to Madrid.

At the talks which focused on bilateral political and economic cooperation and Croatia's membership talks with the European Union, the two ministers agreed that Croatian-Spanish relations were very good.

Grabar-Kitarovic thanked Spain for its support before the opening of accession talks between Zagreb and the EU, according to a press release issued by the Croatian foreign ministry.

Commenting on the situation in southeastern Europe, the Croatian official said that her country was committed to the furtherance of regional cooperation and that Croatia was elected to the UN Peace Building Commission as well as its contingents are taking part in the 11 peace missions worldwide.

Grabar-Kitarovic was received by the chairman of the Spanish Senate, Francisco Rojo Garcia, and informed him of Croatia's progress on the path towards Euro-Atlantic institutions.

The Croatian minister also gave a talk at the New Economy forum that gathers foreign diplomats, leading businessmen, prominent journalists and high-ranking Spanish officials.

In the Croatian Embassy in Madrid, Grabar-Kitarovic conferred the medal of the Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the Image of Marko Marulic on a respectable international law professor, Carlos J. Moreiro Gonzalez.
