ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - The general government debt went up 37 million kuna in February, reaching 107 billion kuna at the end of the month, while on the annual level it went up 7.69 billion kuna or 7.7 per cent from February 2005, the Croatian National Bank said on Monday.

The internal general government debt on the annual level went up 11.5 billion kuna, while the external debt went down 3.86 billion kuna.

The government's orientation to borrow on the domestic market brought about a change in the structure of the debt.

While in February 2005 the external debt accounted for 54.3 and the internal debt for 45.7 per cent of the general government debt, at the end of February this year the internal debt accounted for 53.2 per cent and the external debt for 46.8 per cent.

The internal general government debt at the end of February 2006 was 56.9 billion kuna and the external debt 50.1 billion.

February was the fifth consecutive month that the monthly growth of the central government debt was below one per cent, Croatian Chamber of the Economy analysts said in the latest "Economic Trends" bulletin, citing central bank figures.
