ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - Chief Public Prosecutor Mladen Bajic
commented on Wednesday on his request for the criminal case of independent
member of Parliament Branimir Glavas and his comrade in arms during the
1991-1995 war, Krunoslav Fehir, to be transferred from the Osijek County Court
to the Zagreb County Court. Glavas and Fehir are suspected of
committing war crimes against civilians in the eastern city of Osijek in
1991.
"The latest developments confirm that the court in Osijek would be
subjected to pressure and that it simply would not be capable of objectively
assessing the whole situation," Bajic told Croatian Radio.
"Since we want an impartial inquiry and decision in this case, we
believe that the case should be relocated from Osijek to another court, which
in this case is the County Court in Zagreb," Bajic said.
The request for change of territorial jurisdiction was filed with the
Supreme Court earlier in the day.
