CEFTA member states meet in Bucharest

ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - State secretaries of the Central European FreeTrade Agreement (CEFTA) meet in Bucharest on Thursday to talk aboutCEFTA activities in 2006 and to agree about granting a mandate fornegotiations on CEFTA enlargement. CEFTA member states will alsodiscuss measures that would enable a simple withdrawal of Bulgaria andRomania from the association, following the two countries' joining theEuropean Union.
ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - State secretaries of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) meet in Bucharest on Thursday to talk about CEFTA activities in 2006 and to agree about granting a mandate for negotiations on CEFTA enlargement. CEFTA member states will also discuss measures that would enable a simple withdrawal of Bulgaria and Romania from the association, following the two countries' joining the European Union.

Croatia's delegation in Bucharest is led by a state secretary in the Croatian Economy Minister, Vladimir Vrankovic.

Vrankovic told reporters, the meeting also focused on the initiative aimed at a setting up a joint network of bilateral free trade agreements between CEFTA member states.

The plan is to carry out all preparations by the end of the year so that the agreement would be ready for signing, he said.

The Croatian delegation to Bucharest also includes representatives of ministries of the economy, agriculture, foreign affairs, finance and customs administration.
