ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - Commenting on the latest increase in
petroleum prices, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said Friday it was difficult
to defend something that the Government cannot influence, namely the price of
oil on the world market. Regional crises are the main cause of the
petroleum price increase, Mesic told reporters after the opening of an
international conference organised by Zagreb's office of the Konrad Adenauer
Foundation.
Mesic expressed hope the oil market would be stabilised, adding that
this would be a call on Croatia to invest more thought into its energy
reserves.
