President Mesic met the Irish PM at the end of his two-day visit to Ireland, addressing the press on his own because Ahern had to return to a government session which he previously left only to meet Mesic.
"The visit was successful because the talks with the Irish President ( Mary McAleese) and the Prime Minister and his deputy focused on bilateral relations which are good at all levels, but we want a closer economic cooperation," Mesic said, adding that the talks focused on concrete possibilities for Irish investments in Croatia, which were expected to be followed by more tourist arrivals from Ireland.
The Irish officials welcomed Croatia's cooperation with neighbouring countries, Mesic said.
