ZAGREB/DUBLIN, April 24 (Hina) - Croatian Economy and Labour Minister Branko Vukelic on Monday arrived in Ireland for a working visit at an invitation of Irish Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, Michael Martin.

On Monday Vukelic and Croatia's delegation visited several institutions aimed at encouraging economic development and investment, including Enterprise Ireland, IPA (Institute of Public Administration), IDA (the agency responsible for industrial development in Ireland) and FÁS (the Irish employment authority).

According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, at the start of 2005, Ireland made the greatest progress, measured by a comparative study of Gross Domestic Product. According to the national wealth, it rose to the fourth place at the list topped by Luxembourg while Norway and the USA were second and third-ranked respectively.

Croatia would like to apply (good Irish experience) to the extent to which we can do it, given that the situation is not identical (in the two countries)," Vukelic told Hina on the phone.

On Tuesday, the Croatian minister will hold talks with his host, Minister Martin.

In 2005, Croatia's exports to Ireland amounted USD22 million (a 20-percent fall from 2004), while the imports came to USD105 million.
