WASHINGTON, April 23 (Hina) - Croatian Finance Minister Ivan Suker in Washington on Saturday attended a regular meeting of the World Bank constituent group including Croatia and met the Bank's executive director Jan Willem van der Kaai, read a press release of the Croatian Finance Ministry delegation attending the World Bank and International Monetary Fund's spring assembly.

On behalf of the Netherlands-led constituent group in the World Bank Board of Executive Directors, Kaai represents Croatia, Israel, Cyprus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia.

Apart from Suker, the Croatian delegation includes central bank governor Zeljko Rohatinski.

During the constituent group meeting, Suker met the finance ministers and central bank governors of the group's member states, with which the Croatian Finance Ministry "enjoys outstanding cooperation," according to the press release.

Suker and his Dutch counterpart Gerrit Zalm commended the cooperation between their two ministries, which resulted in the approval of considerable deeds of donation to Croatia in support of the implementation of World Bank projects.

A USD2 million deed of donation was recently signed for a project envisaging protection from water pollution along the coast, while a USD4 million deed of donation is expected to be signed early next month for a project for the adjustment of Croatia's agriculture with European Union legal standards.

On behalf of the Dutch office at the World Bank Board of Executive Directors, Kaai supported Croatia and expressed willingness to sign a EUR60,000 deed of donation for its Finance Ministry for a project envisaged to strengthen human resources management.

On Sunday, Suker is due to meet the Bank's vice president for Europe and Central Asia, Shige Katsuo, to discuss the Bank's future loans to Croatia.
