Addressing the participants in the meeting of Croatian and Serbian businessmen, the majority of whom are from the agriculture, food-processing and metal industries, the president of the Vukovar County Chamber of the Economy, Vinka Ivankovic, said that the County Chamber, that organised the meeting, and the Serbian Chamber of the Economy had been cooperating for two years.
Ivankovic stressed that good cooperation was not followed by satisfactory economic and trade results. Last year Vukovar-Srijem County exported 3.2 million dollars in goods and service to Serbia, which is only 2.4 percent of the county exports, while imports from Serbia amounted to 8.7 million dollars, or 6.3 percent of the county imports.
The head of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce's bureau for regional cooperation, Milivoje Miletic, said Croatia-Serbia economic relations could be stronger.
Serbia and Montenegro expects that a multilateral trade agreement of Southeast European countries would be signed this year. Miletic said adding that according to some estimates, about two thirds of the foreign trade of every country in the area in concern refer to the trade with countries in the region.
The meeting was also attended by the General Consul of Serbia and Montenegro in Vukovar, Bojana Ristic.
