One million euros was allocated to the continuation of the mine-removal process and the non-repayable aid of 1.1 million euros from the CARDS 2003 programme for projects of sustainable development of tourism and civil society in the county.
The agreement on the continuation of the mine removal process in Petrinja, worth one million euros, was signed by the head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Croatia, Ambassador Vincent Degert, and the head of the Croatian Mine Action Centre, Oto Jungwirth. The agreement on financing five programmes of the regional operative programme in the county headquarters in Sisak was signed by County Prefect Marina Lovric and European Parliament President Borrell.
Borrell also held talks with Serb returnees and refugees from Bosnia who settled in the county. The EP chairman said he was happy to visit the rural and not tourist part of Croatia. He also supported initiatives aimed at a stronger economic and regional development and the entire regional policy oriented towards European development and future.
Praising Croatia's efforts invested in the reconstruction of houses and the return of people to their prewar homes, as well as in the establishment of coexistence, Borrell said that the country mist continue working on reconciliation.
