PRISTINA, April 12 (Hina) - Croatia's Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro, Tonci Stanicic, met Kosovo Assembly Chairman Kole Berisha and Prime Minister Agim Qeku in Pristina on Wednesday for talks on the situation in Kosovo and the course of the status talks.

According to an official statement issued after the talks, Berisa said that an independent Kosovo would be open and democratic and would guarantee the rights of all minorities living there, including the Croatian minority. He thanked Croatia for what it had done for Kosovo in the 1990s and called for strengthening cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia.

Stanicic said that Croatia was interested in promoting cooperation in all areas and that as an impartial country it could assist in the process of negotiations on the status of Kosovo.

Qeku spoke of the efforts his government was making to integrate the minorities into Kosovo's institutions, stressing that Kosovo wanted to develop good relations with all its neighbours and other countries in the region.
