Health Minister Neven Ljubicic said the strategy's basic objectives were the financial stability and sustainability of the health sector, the improvement of its effectiveness, especially regarding health services, the strengthening of prevention, and the standardisation and modernisation of hospitals.
Ljubicic said that in the future the Croatian Health Insurance Agency would operate separately from the executive authority as an independent national insurance company.
The set of health bills refers to amendments to laws on health care, mandatory and voluntary health insurance, and a draft law on health care in the workplace.
Ljubicic said these reform acts were aimed at settling the financial and organisational problems in the health sector.
