The bill provides for four categories of information classification -- highly classified, classified, highly confidential and confidential, replacing earlier designations, such as state secret, military secret, official secret, business secret and professional secret.
Security certificates will be issued by the National Security Office. The President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Prime Minister will be exempt from security clearance procedures.
The government has also drawn up an Information Security Bill and sent it to Parliament. Under the bill, the National Security Office was designated as the main government body in charge of information security.
Both bills were formulated in accordance with EU and NATO practices.
