BRUSSELS, March 20 (Hina) - The process of screening, an indepth analysis of the level of adjustment of the Croatian legislation to that of the EU, is proceeding normally and there are no signs of its slowing down, Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik said in Brussels on Monday.

It is my impression that the process of screening and the technical job that we are doing with Croatia are proceeding normally and without obstacles, I see no signs of their slowing down, Plassnik said when asked about the European Commission's reports about secreening.

Croatia has completed screening for 13 of the 35 chapters of the acquis communautaire and the EC has sent the Council of the EU reports on two chapters that were the first on the agenda - on science and research and education and culture.

The Council of the EU has adopted the EC's report on screening for science and research, called on the Croatian government to send its negotiating positions and entrusted the EC with preparing a negotiating position for the EU on the matter. The Croatian government has recently adopted a negotiating position on that chapter.

A few weeks ago the EC also sent the Council the report on education and culture which is still being discussed by the Council's enlargment task force, after which it should be forwarded to the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER).
