HSS chief says Tadic's apology welcome but much remains open

ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Deputy Speaker and Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) leader Josip Friscic said on Thursday that Serbian President Boris Tadic's apology in Vukovar was welcome but many open issues remained in the relations between Croatia and Serbia.

We can forgive, but we should not forget. Those who forget their past, experience the repetition of that past, said Friscic.

The statement with apologies is welcome, but it does not close that book, the HSS president told reporters in the parliament.

Many families still search for their dearest ones who went missing in the war, the war undermined the existence of many people, the border between Croatia and Serbia has not yet been demarcated, and a court verdict on Serbia having been the aggressor against Croatia is still being awaited, said Friscic when commenting on the open issues.

All of this should be discussed and we welcome meetings of the two countries' leaders, he said
