IDS MP comments on Tadic's visit to Vukovar

ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) member of Parliament Damir Kajin has said that Vukovar is the best place for talks between Croatian and Serbian Presidents Ivo Josipovic and Boris Tadic and called on the two countries' parliament to think about dropping mutual genocide lawsuits in order to improve bilateral relations.

Kajin told a news conference in the Parliament building on Thursday that Tadic's visit to Vukovar would not close all the outstanding issues.

One should not expect Tadic to make a statement about Serbia having been the aggressor against Croatia as this would imply a possibility for Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to seek war reparations, Kajin said.

Kajin welcomed Tadic's apology for war victims.

The IDS deputy believes that the Serbian President should have chosen another day for his visit to Paulin Dvor where local Serbs were killed.

"Vukovar's martyrdom should not be downplayed" by visiting Paulin Dvor on the same day, Kajin said.
