Regarding the implementation of the principle of equality of Croatian and foreign citizens, the president and the prime minister agreed it was necessary to adopt amendments to the law on the restitution of property to regulate the issue of compensation for confiscated property, in line with legal principles and the rule of law.
It was stressed that the amendments would not refer to citizens who had already been compensated under bilateral agreements signed by the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The amendments will also regulate cooperation with other countries at a lower legal basis and not on the basis of bilateral agreements, said the statement.
