Friday a delegation of the Croatian Economists Association, who acquainted him
with recommendations adopted at a seminar held in Opatija at the end of last
year, the President's Office said in a statement. Participants in
the seminar concluded that Croatia's development and monetary policies in 2006
should be aimed at facilitating economic growth to reduce the high unemployment
rate, which they said was Croatia's most important problem. In pursuing active
development policy, the government should not neglect the welfare state, it
was said at the meeting.
The Croatian Economists Association is ready to participate in drawing
up a strategy of economic development that is being devised by the government,
the delegation said.
