The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has charged Marijacic and Rebic with the contempt of court after they disclosed the identity and statement of a protested witness in the trial of former Bosnian Croat war-time general Tihomir Blaskic.
After the second prosecution witness, William Tomljanovich, finished his testimony today afternoon which marked an end of the presentation of evidence by the prosecution, the two indictees' lawyers, Marin Ivanovic and Kresimir Krsnik, proposed to the trial chamber to reject the indictment as prosecutors failed to prove that there were grounds for the indictment issued against their clients.
The trial chamber overruled the motion, assessing that there were grounds for the indictment, but it also assessed that prosecutors failed to prove the indictment's allegations beyond any reasonable doubt, and announced that it would ask the defence to give some more explanations during the continuation of the main hearing on Thursday.
The presiding judge O-Gon Kwan said that the main hearing must be completed tomorrow.
The verdict is expected to be delivered soon after the completion of the trial.
