A commission in charge of monitoring the situation with avian influenza on Wednesday introduced measures stepping up activities aimed at preventing the spreading of bird flu.
The measures include compulsory check-ups of all shipments of animal origin in personal baggage or packages, intended for personal consumption (not including milk powder for children, children's food or food for medical purposes), on condition those products do not require a special temperature regime, are originally packed and unopened.
The Ministry recalled that Croatia had banned the import and transit of chickens and chicken products from Turkey last October.
