The Agency today received information through the Croatian Rapid Alert System about the presence of isopropylthioxanthone (ITX) in two brands of fruit juice produced by the Pfanner company from Austria, and decided to withdraw 33,000 cartons of juice (Multi Rosso Bio and Multivitamin Nectar), Agency director Boris Antunovic said.
The producer of the packaging, TetraPak from Sweden, used ITX to colour food packaging after which around 30 million litres of Nestle baby milk had to be withdrawn from the Italian market at the end of last year. ITX was also discovered in other food products in Italy last December.
