SINJ, Aug 1 (Hina) - The Alka, a unique lancing tournament in Europe that takes place in the southern Croatian city of Sinj every August, is likely to attract a great number of visitors this year, and organisers have already prepared
additional stands with 600 more seats.
SINJ, Aug 1 (Hina) - The Alka, a unique lancing tournament in
Europe that takes place in the southern Croatian city of Sinj every August, is
likely to attract a great number of visitors this year, and organisers have
already prepared additional stands with 600 more seats. This year's
tournament, which commemorates the victory of local people over Ottoman
invaders in the early 18th century, will be held on 5 August.
Present at the 292nd tournament will be top state officials, including
President Stjepan Mesic, and foreign diplomats accredited to Croatia.
Ambassadors of Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Montenegro and the Vatican
have confirmed their arrival.
