Committee chairman Ivan Jarnjak said this at a news conference after a committee's session held behind closed doors on Friday. Jarnjak said the session was called at the request of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) which asked that facts be established concerning the Vienna meeting so as to satisfy the public interest and return this case from the media speculation zone to competent institutions.
Although HSP asked that today's session be attended by Bajic and SOA director Tomislav Karamanko, the two officials had not been invited. "At this moment there is no reason to summon them," Jarnjak said.
He stressed that the committee decided the public interest in this case was large and that there was mention of intelligence underworld and attacks on state institutions which is why it is necessary to forward the case to competent institutions.
The committee, therefore, asked Bajic and SOA to establish all the facts, namely had powers been overstepped or had there been anything illegal in the meeting between Perkovic and Zagorec, Jarnjak said, adding that the committee would convene again as soon as these reports were compiled, regardless of vacations.
