ZAGREB, July 6 (Hina) - The chairman of the Croatian Parliament's
European Integration Committee, Neven Mimica, in Zagreb on Friday held talks
with representatives of the European Commission in Croatia about the
parliament's role in the current phase of Croatia's EU entry talks and steps
that need to be taken in the process of Croatia's joining the bloc, the
parliament's public relations office said in a statement. During
talks with the acting director of European Commission Enlargement Directorate
and the head of the European Commission Delegation in Croatia, Vincent Degert,
Mimica presented the work and jurisdiction of the National Committee monitoring
accession negotiations and parliamentary European Integration Committee as
well as the pace of adjusting national legislation to that of the EU.
The EC officials agreed that the three greatest problems for Croatia
were public administration reform, judicial reform and fight against corruption
and organised crime.
The talks also focused on strengthening the communications strategy and
intensifying two-way communication between citizens and institutions.
