The investigation was launched yesterday on suspicion that the eight officials, including three vice presidents relieved of duty yesterday, took and gave bribes, revealed confidential information, conspired to commit a crime, and aided and abetted in the taking of bribes.
Investigating judge Boris Ivancic will interview 37 witnesses suggested by the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK).
After the investigation, the court delivers the file to USKOK, which then decides whether to issue an indictment and for what crimes.
Seven suspects - Josip Matanovic, Robert Pesa, Ivan Gotovac, Igor Petlevski, Asja Piplovic, Mladen Jandricek and Juraj Parazajder - are in custody, while a warrant has been issued for Svjetlan Stanic.
