PRISTINA, June 17 (Hina) - During the second day of his visit to
Kosovo, US Special Envoy for the UN-govern province seeking independence Frank
Wisner said on Saturday that the United States was working on the realisation
of its promise concerning Kosovo's independence, adding however that such an
outcome required more time. Talks in the UN security Council are not
only aimed at avoiding Russia's veto on the decision on Kosovo's independence,
but also at securing international legitimacy for Kosovo, Wisner said.
We are going through a complicated and historic period, but the US
administration has clearly stated that the objective was to realise its promise
concerning Kosovo's independence, Wisner said in Vitina where he held talks
with local political and church officials.
Kosovo is safely walking towards its independence, the US envoy
concluded.
On Friday, Wisner visited Pristina and held talks with senior
representative of Kosovo institutions.
