ZAGREB, June 16 (Hina) - A rally called "Different Colors - Same Team", organised by the GONG nongovernmental organisation and the independent news agency from Split Stina, was held in Zagreb on Friday so as to encourage voters,
members of national minorities, to vote at elections for councils and representatives of national minorities that will be on Sunday, 17 June, in 20 counties and 175 towns and municipalities.
ZAGREB, June 16 (Hina) - A rally called "Different Colors - Same
Team", organised by the GONG nongovernmental organisation and the independent
news agency from Split Stina, was held in Zagreb on Friday so as to encourage
voters, members of national minorities, to vote at elections for councils and
representatives of national minorities that will be on Sunday, 17 June, in 20
counties and 175 towns and municipalities. At the rally,
representatives of the state government, the international community and
representatives of national minorities in the Croatian Parliament called on
minority members to exercise their voting rights. In his message, Croatian
President Stjepan Mesic said that "as president of all citizens of Croatia he
wishes to call on members of national minorities to go to polls and elect their
representative in national minority councils".
Those present at the rally were addressed by National Minority Council
president Aleksandar Tolnauer, head of the government office for national
minorities Milena Klajner, head of the European Commission in Croatia Vincent
Degert, head of the OSCE Mission in Croatia Jose-Enrique Horcajada Schwartz and
President Mesic's envoy Siniša Tatalović.
