VUKOVAR, June 8 (Hina) - Three of six Croatian Serbs, who were brought before an investigating judge in Vukovar on June 5 on suspicion of war crimes, will be placed in custody for 30 days, while the other three, against whom the
county prosecution did not request an investigation, have been released, Vukovar County Court Investigating Judge Nevenka Zeko said on Friday.
VUKOVAR, June 8 (Hina) - Three of six Croatian Serbs, who were
brought before an investigating judge in Vukovar on June 5 on suspicion of war
crimes, will be placed in custody for 30 days, while the other three, against
whom the county prosecution did not request an investigation, have been
released, Vukovar County Court Investigating Judge Nevenka Zeko said on
Friday. The suspects who were placed in custody include an employee
of the county police department, who was suspended after his arrest.
The county police on June 5 arrested six persons, and issued warrants
for the arrest of another three. They are suspected of having mentally and
physically abused captured Croatian soldiers and civilians imprisoned in the
basement of a school in the settlement of Luzac from 18 to 20 November,
1991.
None of the prisoners died there, but they were transferred to prison
camps in Serbia, where some of them succumbed to injuries sustained during
their captivity in Luzac.
