The declaration states, among other things, that the cultural diversity of Southeast Europe contributes to greater understanding among the peoples and to the enhancement of the cultural heritage for generations to come.
The conference "Cultural Diversity - A Bridge between the Cultural Heritage and the Culture of the Future" was organised by the Council of Europe and UNESCO.
The conference was also addressed by the host of the event, Romanian President Traian Basescu, UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nebojsa Radmanovic, and Presidents Branko Crvenkovski of Macedonia, Filip Vujanovic of Montenegro and Boris Tadic of Serbia.
