Degert held a media briefing on Wednesday about the current status of the EU-Croatia relations, communication activities of the Delegation and official visits to Croatia of high EU officials.
So far, Croatia has opened six policy chapters and two of them have been provisionally closed.
Croatia has received no benchmarks for 22 policy chapters and received benchmarks for ten chapters. A benchmark for one of those policy chapters has been met concerning the integrated border management.
A majority of policy chapters without benchmarks are to be opened during the Portuguese presidency, the EC representative said.
Portugal will take over from Germany the presidency of the EU on 1 July.
Degert also announced a visit by the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Danuta Huebner, to Zagreb next Tuesday.
According to him, talks which Huebner will hold with Croatia's officials, including Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, will focus on regional competitiveness, transport and environmental protection.
