ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - Responding to media reports and claims that imply that Croatian Interior Minister Ivica Kirin has ordered a police investigation so as to establish authors of Internet clips with his mistakes in public statements, Minister Kirin and the Interior Ministry most resolutely denied such allegations.

Minister Kirin also dismissed allegations that he had ever said that he ordered the probe.

According to a press release from the police on Saturday, the police have never carried out any investigation to this effect.

Thus the police deny any allegations that they have unlawfully conducted in this case or in any other case or that Minister Kirin abused his office or powers by allegedly ordering such a probe.

The police stress that there was no investigation of this kind and that no one ordered anything like that.

The issue of Kirin's video clips came into the limelight on Friday when the strongest opposition Social Democratic Party accused the minister of abusing his office and asked for his resignation as the media cited him as saying that it was established that authors of video clips ridiculing him were some in the SDP.

The SDP treated this as also a threat to the freedom of expression.
