Asked by reporters in Topusko on Wednesday whether he would support the Social Democratic Party (SDP) at the next parliamentary elections just as the SDP had supported him at presidential elections, Mesic answered that the SDP had backed him on that occasion because they had harmonised their programmes and found a common language in strengthening and developing democracy in Croatia.
Asked how he assessed the economic platform of Radimir Cacic, a senior official of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Mesic said that he supported a large part of his programme just as he supported a large part of the SDP programme.
Recalling that he was not a member of any political party, Mesic said he was also expecting to see a programme of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
