Attending the ceremonies were the Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, Bozidar Kalmeta, the Minister of Science and Education, Dragan Primorac, the Minister of Justice, Ana Lovrin, and representatives of the local authorities.
Sanader, who also leads the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party said he was proud of what Tudjman had done for Croatia. "We're proud of being close to completion of the second most important task of the HDZ's platform. The first task was creation and recognition of the Republic of Croatia and the second one was European integration," he said.
Sanader said Croatia needed a consensus among all political parties about the name of Dr Franjo Tudjman. "The maturity of democracy in Croatia also lies in the fact that we're very close to a level where we will agree on Dr Tudjman's role, and his role was unquestionable and great, indeed the greatest."
