"I am not worried in the least. We will know how to present our successes over the past four years, but will do so when the time is right," Sanader said in a Croatian Radio program.
Only some aspects of the IRI poll were underlined which at present are not favourable for the government and the HDZ, Sanader said, adding that the number of citizens supporting the government had increased by eight percent in the last six months.
Thirty-two percent of respondents entirely support the government. Together with those who partly support the government, they make more than 50% of respondents, the PM said.
He went on to say that all previous surveys had shown that the HDZ's ratings were 4-5% better than those of the SDP, and that the results of the IRI poll were affected by the death of SDP leader Ivica Racan, an improvement which he said was understandable, but short-breathed.
The PM also presented several macroeconomic indicators, pointing to the fact that the 2006 unemployment rate was 11.1%, 1.6% down from the 2005 unemployment rate of 12.7%.
The number of workers in the second half of 2006 rose by 44,000 from 2005, he added.
National gross profit in 2003 amounted to 23 billion kuna, and in 2006 it was 35 billion, Sanader said.
