ITF financing removal of land mines in Karlovac

KARLOVAC, May 23 (Hina) - Karlovac County Prefect Ivica Horvat and the director of the Ljubljana-based International Trust Fund, Goran Gacnik, on Wednesday signed an agreement on co-financing the removal of land mines that were strewn in the municipality of Lasinja during the war in the first half of the 1990s.
KARLOVAC, May 23 (Hina) - Karlovac County Prefect Ivica Horvat and the director of the Ljubljana-based International Trust Fund, Goran Gacnik, on Wednesday signed an agreement on co-financing the removal of land mines that were strewn in the municipality of Lasinja during the war in the first half of the 1990s.

A sum of 668,000 kuna will be earmarked from the county budget and the ITF would add more funds so as to double this amount, which is expected to clear 55,533 square metres of mines.

The ITF has so far donated 3.2 million kuna to Karlovac County. These funds have helped remove 550 land mines and 150 pieces of unexploded devices.
