BRUSSELS, May 14 (Hina) - Croatian Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic in Brussels on Monday took part in an EU Troika ministerial meeting on the European security and defence policy.

The defence ministers of the EU member states held an informal meeting as part of a meeting of the General Affairs and External Relations Council. After the meeting, the EU Troika, led by German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung, held talks with their counterparts from the EU candidate countries - Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey - as well as with the defence ministers of Iceland and Norway, non-EU NATO member states.

Minister Roncevic told reporters Croatia had not yet been asked to send its armed forces to Kosovo.

"Croatia is currently taking part in nine peace missions led by the UN and NATO, but at this moment the country is not participating in the Kosovo mission nor has it received a request to participate in it", Roncevic said, adding that Croatia was taking part in the UN Civil Mission in Kosovo.

Roncevic reiterated that under the Armed Forces' long-term development plan, Croatia would deploy by 2010 up to 800 soldiers in international peace missions led by the UN, the EU and NATO.
