"Glavas was wiling to receive me, but as you know, he has been in the Zagreb prison infirmary since last night," Malcic told a news conference in Osijek after he met Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Kresimir Bubalo.
Responding to the question from the press whether Glavas's human rights were violated with his transfer to the prison hospital as he had opposed such a move, Malcic said this issue had already stirred up disputes and controversy, particularly in the media, stressing that when it came to detainees taken in custody, it was up to the judge conducting the proceedings in question to make decisions.
Glavas was admitted to the infirmary as his health worsened due to his hunger strike.
Malcic told the news conference that he and Prefect Bubalo had discussed problems in the exercise of human rights in Osijek-Baranja County.
In this regard, Malcic said that the county had much fewer problems than other formerly war-affected areas.
