ZADAR, May 11 (Hina) - A Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) official,
Tonci Tadic, has called on the government to initiate the procedure for
declaring the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea a particularly sensitive
area. Croatia should do all it can to declare the Adriatic a
particularly sensitive area in order to counteract many environmental threats
to the sea, Tadic said at a news conference in Zadar on Friday.
In this context he cited threats posed by the possible implementation
of the Druzba Adria oil transport project.
Tadic said that the International Maritime Organisation could also
declare the Adriatic a particularly sensitive area.
