The Committee of Permanent Representatives in the European Union (COREPER) on Thursday adopted a report on the screening of the said policy chapters.
The Croatian Government is now expected to send its negotiating position, after which EU bodies will open the procedure for the definition of the EU negotiating position.
After that the two sides will set a date for holding an intergovernmental conference at which the Union and Croatia are to open and provisionally close negotiations on the policy chapter in question.
As regards the Regional Policy and the Co-ordination of Structural Instruments, Croatia was asked to meet the benchmark, namely to prepare an action plan specifying targets and time limits for fulfilling prerequisites ensuing from the cohesion policy.
So far, Croatia has opened negotiations on six policy chapters, and provisionally closed two of them.
