STRASBOURG, April 25 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir
Seks said on Wednesday the European Parliament's resolution on Croatia was a
valuable and concrete achievement on the road to the European Union, as for the
first time an official document of one of the most important European
institutions cited the year 2009 as the year when the European Parliament could
consent to Croatia's full membership in the EU, the Croatian Parliament said
in a statement. "Most deputies in the European Parliament voted for
Croatia and voiced a positive opinion of the progress Croatia has made so far
in the accession process. The resolution is particularly important because for
the first time an official document of one of the most important European
institutions cites the year 2009 as the year when the EP could give its consent
for Croatia's full membership of the EU," Seks said.
"The Croatian Parliament will continue supporting the government and
state institutions in implementing the necessary reforms to solve the problems
that we are aware of and want to deal with for our own sake, so that our
citizens are provided with the environment and level of living standards that
exist in developed European countries," Seks said in the statement.
