ZAGREB/OSIJEK/DUBROVNIK, April 8 (Hina) - The head of the Serb Orthodox Church in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, Metropolitan Jovan Pavlovic, on Sunday conducted a religious service in the Orthodox church in downtown Zagreb on the occasion of Easter which Christians who follow the Julian calendar celebrated on 8 April this year.

A message from the primate of the Serb Orthodox Church, Patriarch Pavle, was read out in this church as well as in other Orthodox churches in Croatia.

In the message the patriarch warns about what he calls growing evils in the world.

"Many nations today defend their freedom, for which they have already paid the price in blood, against the violence of the globalist system. Ready-made solutions are being imposed in the name of fake freedom and democracy," the dignitary wrote in his message.

"We are witnesses to the latest distress that has befallen Orthodox Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. Our people in Bosnia and Croatia, and, unfortunately, in Montenegro, also face many worries," Patriarch Pavle said among other things.

Orthodox believers observed religious services in the eastern city of Osijek and in the Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik.

In Dubrovnik, a service was also held for 150 Greek tourists staying in the city during the Easter holidays.
