In the Zagreb Cathedral, the primate of the Catholic Church in the country, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, said a traditional Easter Mass at 11 o'clock.
Addressing the packed cathedral, the dignitary extended the best wishes for this religious holiday and particularly pointed out the destiny of those who are suffering, who are poor or persecuted and who are in prison.
Government officials attended the service in the Zagreb Cathedral.
This year, Christians who follow the Julian calendar, also celebrated Easter this Sunday.
