During the talks with his host, Suker urged the Egyptian side to ratify a double taxation avoidance agreement the two countries signed in 2005.
Coming into the effect, the agreement may boost the economic cooperation between Croatia and Egypt and help companies operating in the respective countries to be more competitive.
Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali pledged to see that this agreement be ratified by the Egyptian parliament as soon as possible.
Minister Suker, who is also the chairman of the supervisory board of the Croatian oil company INA, conveyed to Minister Sameh Samir Fahmy his satisfaction with INA's successful work in the search for oil in Egypt. Recently, INA has discovered that oil-wells in the East Yidma field where it has been given concessions, can be profitable.
The Egyptian minister pledged to offer all the necessary assistance to facilitate the future production.
Minister Suker also informed the Egyptian officials about Croatia's accession negotiations with the European Union and presented potentials of Croatian seaports to be gateways for Egyptian products being exported to Europe.
