"I am not shunning the post of premiership, if this is a requirement for the implementation of the economic platform," Ljubo Jurcic said during a Croatian Television political talk show on Sunday.
At the presentation of the economic strategy of this strongest Opposition party a few days ago, Jurcic refuted media speculations that had had made a deal with the SDP leader Ivica Racan on assuming the post of Prime Minister if the SDP won the parliamentary polls.
Jurcic said at the talk show today that in his capacity of the chairman of the SDP economic council he had drawn up the party's economic strategy and that he was going to implement the strategy if the party won the confidence of Croatian voters.
He added that the SDP would announce its potential candidates for the future government in September, at least two months before the elections.
Jurcic, who is not a member of the SDP party, said he would be enrolled in the party if the SDP won the elections and if his membership was a requirement for the implementation of the platform.
