ZAGREB, March 9 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Friday supported a Humanitarian Mine Removal Plan for 2007 and allocated 291.7 million kuna for removing mines from 30 square kilometres of mine-infested surfaces.

Most of the money for mine removal came from the the state budget (164.3 million kuna). State-owned companies and state administration bodies will donate 72.9 million kuna, while 54.6 million will be raised through donations.

The priority in mine removal is farm land, followed by the demining of future infrastructure areas.

Last year a total of 257.1 million kuna was on demining some 25 square kilometres.

Seven mine-related incidents were recorded in 2006, in which ten people were injured, one fatally.

The government on Friday was also briefed about the implementation of the law on the right of access to information, under which public authority bodies last year received 4,357 requests concerning the right to information, a decrease in relation to 2005 when some 4,500 requests were received.

In 2006 a total of 4,140 of these requests were resolved, 93 were unresolved, 49 were rejected and 173 were forwarded to competent bodies.
