The Brussels-based European Association for Flowers and Landscape (AEFP) held a general convention and session of the international jury Entente Florale Europe - The Golden Flower of Europe 2007 on March 3-4.
The 12 nominations competing for the prestigious award Entente Florale Europe include those of Biograd in the category of towns and of Primosten in the category of villages.
The winners will be presented with awards at a ceremony in Great Britain in September 2007.
Croatia was chosen to host the closing ceremony on 17-21 September 2008.
This proves the reputation Croatia enjoys in the AEFP in terms of sustainable development, culture and tourism, Alajbeg said at the ceremony.
The Entente Florale Europe is a prestigious European competition for towns and villages. Each participating country puts forward a representative town and village. The town and village are visited by the jury and an assessment is made. The competition was founded more than 25 years ago, initially between Great Britain and France. At present there are twelve member countries.
The overall aim of the competition is the improvement of the quality of life for local urban and village communities.
