At a ceremony in Zagreb, held on the occasion of its 155th anniversary, the HGK also awarded the best small and medium companies, the best bank and the best insurance company.
The best small company is Sestan-Busch from Prelog, which manufactures combat and cyclist helmets and plastic equipment.
Atlantska Plovidba from Dubrovnik was chosen the best medium-sized company.
Erste&Steiermaerkische Bank Rijeka is the best bank and Allianz Zagreb the best insurance company.
The company "Dalekovod" was awarded a "Kristalna kuna" for having been chosen best medium-sized company for the third consecutive year.
The HGK also awarded new "Originally Croatian" and "Croatian Quality" labels. Eighty-one products now bear the label "Originally Croatian" and 164 have the label "Croatian Quality".
Addressing the event, President Stjepan Mesic said that successful economies are ones with an established framework for market competition and that the Croatian economy was headed in that direction.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said that the Croatian economy was developing in conditions of stability and peace, to which its membership in the EU and NATO would additionally contribute.
HGK president Nadan Vidosevic called on politicians to work with business people on the promotion of production and export.
